This blog entry is intended to catch you up on what’s new with Julie Filyaw Photography and what will be coming in the months ahead….

First, THANK YOU to all my clients who made Easter Sessions a phenomenal success this year!  I started early and thank goodness I did because we had some crazy weather there for a little while.  I had baby ducklings and baby chicks for about a month, and this year I even tried my hand at pictures with a baby lamb.  I can honestly say, I love how the pictures turned out, but I am not a farmer, nor do I want to be a farmer.  So, I am happy that all my animals are in their safe and cozy forever homes!  It is a job taking care of so many little animals for such a long period of time!

Here are some of the pictures from Easter Sessions 2017…I can’t possibly share one from each session, but these are some very cute ones! <3

What is happening currently?….I am now booking a limited number of “Mommy and Me” Sessions.  The concept behind those sessions is described in the blog post just before this one.  They will continue throughout the month of May.  I have also already started photographing and booking 2017 Beach Sessions.  If you would like more information about my 2017 Beach Sessions, please ask.  I am currently booking in June and weekend availability is very limited.  Previews of these started over the weekend and will continue this week as I headed back down to Myrtle Beach today!

I have been asked a few times about the Fishing/River Sessions I did last year and if I would be doing them again this year.  The answer is YES!  I have already booked a couple!  They were so much fun!  (Lots of cute ideas for those on Pinterest, Mom’s)….if you would like to book a River Session, please contact me.  These will be late afternoon/early evening sessions and will go quickly based on last year’s bookings.  Just FYI, I will almost always offer all types of sessions in the natural settings of the outdoors: tobacco fields, old barns, sunflowers, cotton fields, wheat fields, etc.  Why not use the beautiful backgrounds that nature provides, especially when I am primarily a natural light photographer who shoots outdoors the majority of the time!

Father’s Day is just around the corner and I will announce session information about “Daddy and Me” pictures soon!

In addition to everything mentioned above, I have also been doing some commercial work for Shrimp and Grits Kids and Sullivan Row, to mention a couple of my most recent shoots.  This has been lots of fun for me, and I hope to add more commercial work as my business grows.  Look for a separate page on my website soon that features more examples of commercial work.  However, no worries, I love my family sessions and child photography sessions and will not be venturing away from the main reasons I started my own photography business to begin with!

As you can tell, things are busy here.  It is just me.  I do all the scheduling, all the shooting and editing, and all the conversing with my clients AND I love that simple fact about my business.  Hectic at times, oh yes!  But well worth the satisfaction of knowing it all begins and ends with me.  I have managed two different busy medical practices for 7 years prior to owning my own business, so this is nothing new to me!  Busy is good!

I am going to be working on some fun photo shoots this summer that don’t necessarily involve the normal “summer” sessions, so be on the lookout for those!  After all, when you stop loving what you do, it becomes work…I want to continue to LOVE photography and in order to do that I have to make it about the types of sessions I would book for my family or my own children….just watch, you don’t want to miss those!
